How I Have Grown

I’ve grown most this year by learning that even though you might not like doing something it is still a good thing to do. A quote from Albert Einstein states that “ anyone who has never trailed has never tried anything new”. My entire family is very religious and always have been for a long while. My uncle is a pastor of a church called Crusaders Temple Church of God in Christ. I have been going to this church since I was born. At first growing up and still going to church I was only going because I had to I never really liked going. I felt like it was a waist of time and barely listened to any of the preaching. That was until COVID hit and we shut down. We like everyone else resorted to the media. My cousin who was the pastor son was in charge of the media at first and I was his assistant. At first I didn’t even want to do the job; I didn’t like church so why would I like helping out. But as the years past I eventually got good enough to do things on my own he left and I was in change of the media due to no other person understanding how to use the camera equipment. Though I learned to enjoy it and even got my cousin to help with the job as well. My church found a new person to supervise us while we work and we have been working hard for our church ever since. This includes things like our church events, outreaches  and many other things our church gets involved in. I may not have liked it at first but I learned to change by trying new experiences.

Service I Have Done

I have done many different types of Christian service in my life to help serve my community and others. One example of this when I helped with a cloths giveaway for my church. We gave away cloths to homeless and other low income family people who needed it. Another thing I do is help clean my community. Me and my dad tend to clean around our neighborhood whenever it gets too dirty around. Elizabeth A. Johnson states in Liberation Christology on page 90 that “his preaching that the reign of God is near; his singling out the poor and those who hunter after justice for beatitude; the way he feeds and heals and welcomes outcasts-all of this reveals a choice, a preference for those who have not.” This shows that God calls us to help those who are in need of help weather it be food, clothing or shelter.
